Personal style and collections

How would you describe your style to someone who has never seen your work before?

I am an illustrator at heart and love drawing with pens and paper. A lot of my personal artwork is madeup of funny doodles, characters, typography, and icons mashed together. However, I also enjoy building patterns and using bright colors especially when painting or designing custom apparel.

How would you describe you design process?

‘Analog driven concepts becoming digitally rendered’. Normally I will start by taking some notes and/or putting together a quick design brief to get a better understanding for the design I am looking to create. If there are characters, objects, or icons, I typically start with a pencil and paper in order to get ideas down quickly. Once I have a set of ideas created I will refine, them by inking the drawing or going directly ti my computer and digitally rendering them. The refinement process also consists of color, shading, and layering to create a nicely balanced design.

From where do you draw your inspiration?

A lot of my inspiration comes from travel, personal experiences and collaborations with friends. I take a sketchbook pretty much everywhere I go in case I get inspired by something and need to get a particular idea down on paper.

Do you have a favorite artist quote?

You don’t know what people are looking for. What you know is what you feel like might be missing. It’s up to the people to agree with you or disagree with you, and you’ll know their reaction. - Pharrel Williams
