Into the mountains

The northwest is for exploration

Mt. Hood - 11,249′

This is the most technical of the core 3. A beautiful spring route from the south approach begins at 2-3 am and you should be at the top by sunrise. As you watch the sun begin to rise the shadow of Mt. Hood can be seen stretching to the west. The top is rather steep and technical, on the list is pearly gates this next season.

Mt. Adams - 12,281′

A mid to late summer push makes this summit a special one. What is normally a 2-day trip (via South Climb-Lunch counter) can be done in the morning if you opt to start early and go fast. Under prime conditions, t can be done in microspikes and trail shoes but that also involves climbing the loose rock on the side ridge vs. climbing directly up the snow face.

Mount st. Helens - 8,363′

A unique early spring route is best if you pack a snowboard or skis. It’s the least technical but has a 5k vertical and a +6-mile approach that makes it rather enduring. This is all corrected by being able to ride off the top and all the way back to the car.
